text: We left Phozami at 8.30 a.m. Hutton went on ahead & I followed more leisurely with Nikrihu. It was downhill to the Tuzu R., except where another ravine had to be crossed. Huluk gibbons were heard calling loudly near Phozami. I reached the light iron suspension bridge over the Tuzu at 11 a.m. & there caught up Hutton. From the Tuzu there was a long, steep uphill grind under a scorching sun, which took it out of me, & I was very glad to meet a Primi boy carrying millet beer in gourds; a drink was most acceptable & the zu tasted quite good. I reached Primi (c. 11 miles) at about 12.30 p.m. feeling much more tired than I had yesterday, when I had walked double the distance. The hot sun was largely responsible. I went all round the village in the afternoon. A man was hafting an axe, whittling down the haft by scraping & shaving with a dao.
