To Satakha - Sema Gaonburas from Sakhalu's village to Chenakasami and Khuivi present in crowds. I settled some petty cases - the cases started in earnest with two Gaonburas older than I had ever seen before, disputing as to a mithan calf killed in a rage because it was eating crops. It was explained that the opinion of the assembly was that these were very respectable old men but that as the matter was one of Rs. 30/- it was not advisable to hear the oaths which either side wanted to give, as old age produces such a fondness for money that oaths are not sacred. I got a bad go of fever. |
