On to Khivikhu and counted it and started hearing the water channel case of Likhovi of Khivikhu village v. Sahoma of Chipoktama settled by Koopoo once but now broken out again. The real reason is that the Angamis made pani-khets by the Tizu and now that the Semas see the profit from Pani-khets (30) they want to make channels and Khivikhu is on the top of the hill and so is in a position to get at the main hill stream before the Angamis lower down. This case was settled in favour of the Angami and the Sema happens to have another source of supply, but similar cases may come up in the future. |

A curious case was that arising from Zeyeke an old dobashi of Kohima taking out a claim to a village site near the Tizu and then selling the land partly to Livikhu and partly to Dazo son of Pesetsu. Zeyehe [sic] before dying took his son Jasitso of Kohima to see the land. The place is 80 miles from Kohima. It is wonderful how he maintained this shadowy right over land so far away. Yet it was acknowledged and bought from him. This being the first Sema village, Torre my Angami dobashi and Jasitso, the plaintiff fell victims to the Kasari modhu which they drank like the mild Angami brew. The case had to be put off till next day. I am applying for an advance pension for a maimed France man and found another man whom I could not get sent in for a Medical Board. He must be carried in, but is very unwilling. |
