text: Showers in night. Coolies left 8a.m.; compounder and I waited for short dispensary, and then lit out for Phungam in the rain. Fine Naga path through forest. Luikai full of merry woe: "We'll all get fever and pneumonia, and there's chicken-pox everywhere!" I was a bit worried about the men, all had coughs & colds, and there's Chinaorang's leg, so it got on my nerves. Arrived to find no c'-pox, but perao leaking like a mosquito-net. Cold, and chilled, and very tired and depressed. Luikai asked for leave to go to his village; Chinaorang too, with wages to date, 10/-. Slept or coughed all afternoon. Cold, and wet, perao leaking, fire smoking, wood damp, and everything generally bloody. Tuning out of order.
