text: The young men's visits to the dekaichang take place pretty well nightly, and they sleep there till morning, when they leave as secretly as they came. It is a point of honour with both girls and boys never to tell who went with who, and the girls never say anything to their parents; though one would think that with memories of their own youth the latter would have a very fair idea of what their offspring were up to.
text: A young man will also visit his sweetheart in the daytime, in her parents' house, when they are in the fields. He sends someone to look in and see if the girl is there, and then arrives secretly, by a roundabout route. He stays till evening, both generally missing their midday meal, she being too shy to say "I am going to eat now", and when the parents' return is imminent the boy slips away.
text: Lovers will meet in the jungle, too, and return separately by different paths.
