text: In the old days the Angamis used to raid as far as Impoi. On one occasion the sentries set to watch for them were surprised at their midday meal, with their weapons stacked [They were not keeping anything of a look-out, and had been fishing and generally enjoying themselves]. The Zemis bolted into the jungle, pursued by the Angamis, but one man stayed, locked in furious combat with one of the Angamis. Neither had weapons, but they fought tooth and nail till the Angami, who was the older, began to get the worst of it. He was gasping and shouting for help when an Angami heard him, and dashing out of the jungle, slashed the Zemi's leg with his dao. If it hadn't been for that the Zemi would have won.
