text: 14. Padhekot area. A well-known site. In 1943 my interpreter bought a string of 'deo-moni' from the Kukis here, who claimed to have dug the beads up one by one in the course of cultivation. The string, about 7" long, was of what seemed to me perfectly ordinary 'deo-moni', but my interpreter considered the beads good specimens, bought the string for 20/- and sold it for Rs. 40/- in Hangrum. There is a widespread Naga belief that beads are to be found on these sites.
