The coolies with theod &c were started soon after reveille sounded & we followed after a hasty chota hazari. The air felt beautifully fresh & pure as we ascended the hill. A fine new thrush fell to Chandrabir's gun on the way. It turned out to be one of the clearest days it was possible to imagine. Japvo looked as if you cd get there in a couple of marches. The line of high peaks running southward from X were sharp & bright against the pure blue sky with a hazy film over their lower parts. We were soon at work & remained at it until 10 o/c when we stopped for bkfast, continuing the angles afterwards & Plane Tabling until past 4 o/c. The coolies had completed new [clatuis?] for the mark & the putting them up was soon effected & we left for camp below. We had done a splendid day's work. |
