We started abt 8 o/c. At that hour the temperature most delightful. Bagging a bird now & again we walked leisurely along the road towards Ningthowkong, descending into the lowest level of the valley off the old deposit of water-worn stones that skirts it all along this Western side, shortly after the village was left. The fishermen, some 16-18, one in each dugout, got their boats together in a large circle & at first two coming close together they begin to pay out the net & paddle outwards towards the couple right and left of them, thus a circle of nets is completed. They then close in, beating the paddles against the boats & bringing the paddles with the broad of the oar with a bang on the water to drive the fish into the nets on either one side or the other.
