text: I went off early in the morning after a cup of tea to a small beel on the North side of the Town, crossing the pukka bridge near the Polo ground & following the broad road out for abt a mile. Found it covered with duck but very wild. Called to a fisherman in a dugout who brought it inshore & I started out with him & managed in 2 shots to bag 4 widgeon - one I could not find in Jerdon. Worked at birds & letters. It came on to rain in the afternoon but cleared up & we all walked down to Chingai Mukka a low Tila South of the town where Col T has built a small bungalow for the hot weather. The view from the top is most lovely & the finest where a good general view of the valley is to be got, being not so high as to make it a bird's eye view while yet high enough to be above everything.
