text: Butler came up with us this day and as we had to go down the river & sketch in the country, it was thought best to make a halt. Got down the valley about 2 miles & from a low hill on the right bank got in all we wanted & returned to camp. Large Kooki settlement on opposite hill & the crash of falling trees was heard from time to time in the forest there.
