On 20th late, we went on and got as far as the village when rain set in. We could get no rice, about 1 and a half maunds were produced & supplied at one anna a seer but no more. We had only 1 day's supply left. Road ahead uncertain so we returned to our camp in ravine where bashas were already built. On descent saw [67] that they were occupied & a lot of men coming down the opposite slope which turned out to be Munipuris with Thomson & Tangal Major. Very lucky indeed for we got a supply of rice. The advent of Tangal altered our plans for many impediments cropped up with regard to going into the Iril valley, so I decided to send Ogle on with the triangulation & go on as soon as we could with the Plane Tabling of the boundary which is after all of the greatest importance. |
