Kamhow or sukte seen in Munipur are very like the rest of the Kookie tribes in features. Those I saw were from Shutay. They however wear their hair in a different way, a very long lock of the hair is allowed to grow on the centre of the forehead & this is plaited into a three plait & taken back over the top of the head & fastened into the knot at back of head. Munipur has now concluded a treaty of peace with this tribe who are reckoned the most powerful south of the valley & to have many firearms. |
