Up early. 3 parties under Ogle, Hinde & myself went down the Khuds east of Rechim. Ogle's party and mine came across a few Nagas & our 2nB. Found camp. Pigs, fowls and an infant. Returning to camp I found Hinde had preceeded me, having had a narrow escape from being speared. Man behind rock prodded at him. He caught the spear in his left hand which was cut about the fingers & on ball of thumb. Breast scratched. Polished off many in return. Went out with Colonel to bugle for Ogle who arrived about []. We spotted 2 fine granaries & burned them. After breakfast wrote letters. Dak came in. Long letter from Fred Thuillier saying Keatinge thought I was to blame in rows with Badgley. Wrote letters till about 1 a.m. Changse Yantamo men came in in afternoon. Told them we should pass through their village tomorrow & would talk to them there. Rain on and off during the night. |
