The complete submission of the men of Konoma was speedily followed by that of the Chitonoma Khel of Kohima, and the Sephima Nagas under Saloji. The latter had practically given in some weeks previously. The whole of the Angamis in arms against us having now been brought to terms, hostilities completely ceased. The troops, however, remained in their positions until the full number of firearms should have been surrendered. |

The outline of the terms granted to the people of Konoma by Captain Williamson, approved by the Chief Commissioner of Assam, and ratified by the Government of India is as follows:- " Chaka Forts to be surrendered, occupied by our troops, and destroyed. All firearms to be surrendered and all Government property or its value to be restored; village site and fields of Konoma to be confiscated. Site not to be reoccupied. Fields to be settled with neighbouring villages. Konoma men to be dispersed. One Khel ( Semnama) to be located on lowlands near Zubzu, other two Khels near Phesama, south of Kohima. Semnama Khel fined Rs. 200, other two Khels Rs. 500 each, and to give coolies for transport. Terms in regard to future revenue and labour same as in other villages. Amnesty granted for past offences, excluding the man who shot Damant and the Dobashia who betrayed him. Hostages to be given from each Khel for full performance of conditions. Upper Chaka fort will be held by our troops for the present." ( Telegram dated 31st March 1880, from Chief Commissioner to Foreign Secretary.) |

It is further stated that Captain Williamson found the deportation of the Merima Khel to Manipur impossible. |
