text: From Kohima to Manipur.
text: The route from Kohima to Manipur lies via Phesima ( Phesama), Kigwima, Yakhoma (Jakoma) Viswima, Mao, Mythephum, Myongkong and Sengmai, the total distance being ninety-eight miles, thirty- eight from Kohima to Mythephum, and sixty from that station into Manipur. There is a good path all the way. The road from Mythephum into Kohima is a good deal cut up by deep ravines, and is difficult marching for troops. From Mythephum to Manipur the path is rideable all the way. There is abundant water en route at all the stages; there are good camping grounds and plenty of fuel. The country is but thinly populated, and would not furnish supplies for a large body of men (say 1,000). Between Esrung (?) river and Mythephum there is a steep ascent which might be avoided by taking the path along the banks of the river.
