8th February, Tuesday. About a mile from Mezeephemah we passed through the small village of Pheeremah containing only 28 houses and proceeding on for about another 8 miles we halted at Peephimah a village well situated for defence and naturally well fortified but containing only l2 houses and its only supply of water some distance off. |

In the afternoon I was shown the spot where in 1849 the noted Bhog chund fell "a victim to his own folly and belief in the prestige of a British Policeman"! The road to-day was very fair indeed and fit for pony's. |

Finding Peephemah was too small to supply me with a sufficient number of coolies to carry me on to-morrow I called upon the neighbouring villages of Phereemah and Phenemah (containing 40 houses) to aid me which they cheerfully did. |

In the afternoon a deputation from three Khels (Keehootzoomah, Nisonomah and Prophetzoomah) of Mozemah together with their Dabasha came into camp and presenting me with a spear informed me that hearing of my having left Samoogooting they had come out to meet and escort me to their village where they assured me I should receive a most hearty welcome. It had been originally my intention to have gone via Sachemah as being by far the easiest route but on receiving this unlooked for welcome from Mozemah one of the most powerful of the Lengeemah villages I considered it best to change my plan and accept an invitation apparently so frankly given, I say apparently, for with these savages it is impossible to say for certain and "Time Danaoset dona ferentes". |

We had a long talk in the evening over the camp fire from while I gathered that even the Mozemah clans or at least a majority among them are now beginning to wish for a more peaceful Government. |
