5th March, Saturday. About 8 miles of a vile road that could scarcely have been worse than it was brought us into Nakamah a small village containing only 50 houses but in a capital position for defence being very strongly fortified. |

6th March, Sunday. Marching over a road much the same as yesterday's about 10 miles brought us into the valley between Reedeemah and Lackemah (both small villages the former containing 28 and the latter 44 houses) and it getting towards evening and Dr. Brown and the Muneepoorees not having turned up I decided upon halting. |

7th March, Monday. Having passed through Lackemah enroute we marched today into Bereemah over a distance about 10 miles the first portion of the road was decidedly bad but the latter very fair indeed at least it seemed so to me after the roads we have lately had the pleasure of coming over. Dr. Brown arrived in camp late in the evening rather knocked up after the march and shortly after I received a dak from Samoogooting but it contained no news of the survey party so I supposed they can never have started. |
