text: 19th March, Sunday. Returned to Dobaka. I hear today that the road to Dikhlena is all but impassable and Rongbong one of my Mikir Mauzadars informs me that his ryots had been prevented for clearing the road by Pua Ram Subdhana Nowgong Mauzadars who turned them off feeling that they had no right to be cutting roads in the Nowgong jurisdictions, another very good reason I think why the boundary should be altered. However it is rather disgusting as I am afraid it will prevent my getting on the Cachar Frontier this year as I had originally intended, but I intend to halt tomorrow and go and explore the road personally and see whether it is really as bad as is painted.
text: 20th March, Monday. Halted and went out on an elephant as far as the Lowpeta Bheel, about 9 miles off, and was sorry to find the report regarding the condition of the road is only too true, and I have therefore decided as there is no special necessity for my forcing my way through towards that side, to turn off into the Rengmah and Mikir Hills.
