text: The Loohoopas in the far North being more warlike are much feared by those South of them. The women of the former are tattooed, and are much sought for by the southern men, because, however fierce may be their feuds, a tattooed women always goes unscathed, fear of the dire vengeance which would be exacted by her northern relations were she injured, giving her this immunity.
