text: In the Naga Hills, the establishment of a peaceful and settled administration made good progress: roads have been constructed and improved; two strong new outposts, one at Lozema in the east, and another at Henima in the west, have been planted among the Nagas at a distance from Kohima; thefts of rifles have ceased, and those stolen have all been recovered; revenue has been punctually paid; the labour difficulty has been much reduced, and the work of building the new station at Kohima taken well in hand; food supplies have been largely drawn from within the district, instead of from importation; there have been no raids or punitive expeditions, and everything seems to promise well for the future.
