32. So far as regards the relations of villages within the Naga Hills district to those beyond the frontier the year was, with one exception, one of unbroken quiet. No British subject was murdered either within or without the district. The assertion of our supremacy over the villages within the district are concerned. |

Our responsibilities beyond the district limits have been, however, more than proportionately increased by that assertion of supremacy, and a fairly long list of incidents falling within the year 1887-88 calls for mention in the history of our relations with villages within and beyond the political zone. |
