text: South of the Mazungs comes a group of ten villages which occupy the tract of country immediately opposite Mokokchang known from their most important village as the Sangtam group. With this tribe our relations have been friendly, but at the close of the year a complaint was laid against one of the ten villages named Chari, of having poisoned a trader of Mokokchang, who had visited the village. The man died after he had returned to his home so that even if a true charge it would be one hardly possible to prove.
text: This tribe is also suspected of having killed last rains a Sema of the political control village of Chichami. It is believed, however, that the latter was himself out on the war-path. The case will be enquired into when the Deputy-Commissioner next visits the Sema country.
