Nagas on the Lakhimpur frontier |
text: |
24. A large number of Nagas visited the district of Lakhimpur bringing in rubber from across the Patkoi, and in some cases to work on tea-gardens. Fifty houses are reported to have migrated from a distance of ten days' journey and settled near Tikak. The immigrants say they desire peace and quietness and are tired of the constant fighting that goes on across the range. As they are beyond the Inner Line and no disturbance is apprehended from their migration, they have been allowed to stay. |
