26. The Nagas have given no trouble during the year. They have been largely employed at Margherita and on tea gardens in the district. The Namsangia chief visited Dibrugarh and put forward claims to money given to buy an elephant years ago and to certain land at Margherita which he was told could not be entertained. During the year under report the Nagas of Changmai, Tonglong, Molung and Lungchang paid the Deputy Commissiner visits of courtesy and brought presents of Naga cloths, fowls, spears, daos, etc. |
