The case of the Jaktung Nagas, reported to have been pending in paragraph 27 of the report of 1892-93, was disposed of during the year. Four Nagas of Failung chang were tried by the Sessions Judge under section 302, Indian Penal Code, and sentenced to transportation for life. Subsequently the chiefs and the Nagas of Failung and some other changs petitioned the Chief Commissioner for pardon to be granted to the said four Nagas under section 401, Criminal Procedure Code. The Chief Commissioner granted the pardon conditionally on the Jaktung chang being reconciled to the Failung chang, and directed that the Failung chief be informed accordingly.
