text: | In the previous year there were 1,131 licenses in force and 18 licenses which were not renewed by the Licensees. In 1896, 1,115 licenses were renewed, 10 remaining unrenewed at the close of the year, and 24 were cancelled for various reasons. Seven of the eight new licenses taken out were issued to Mikirs and plains people, the remaining one covered a gun procured by a Kacha Naga. There were seven cases under the Arms Act during the year, the same number as in the previous year. The accused in all these cases were convicted. |
