From the 1st May 1933 effect was given to the sanction of the Government of India to re-open the two hill subdivisions with headquarters at Tamenglong and Ukhrul and to administer the rest of the hills (Sadr subdivision) by the President of the Manipur State Darbar with the assistance of a Manipuri Officer appointed by the Darbar. In Ukhrul and Sadr the conduct of the hillmen was satisfactory. There was some trouble among the Kacha Nagas of Tamenglong but prompt and vigorous action by the Subdivisional Officer led to the arrest of the ringleaders and the unearthing of the whole conspiracy. Several of the ringleaders were tried for murder and sentenced to transportation for life. The Kukis and Kabui Nagas of Tamenglong were well behaved throughout the year. The former rendered considerable assistance by acting as scouts in the Kacha Naga trouble.
