Whereas in many societies the craft of the blacksmith is surrounded by an aura of magic, no special powers were attributed to Konyak metal-workers. Nor did they make use of magic to assure the success of their operations. Other activities which involved an element of chance, such as hunting or raiding, were accompanied by magical practices, but no magical formulas were employed to avert mishaps at the forge. |
