Both bark fibre and cotton yarn were woven on a tension loom of a type known to ethnographers as "Indonesian." This loom was portable and could be set up in any convenient flat space, one end being hung up on a post or fence, the other fastened to the waist of the weaver by means of a broad hide belt.
