text: Every ward comprised a number of patrilineal, named clans, and these were, in turn, ramified into lineages. The smallest social unit was the household, consisting, usually, of a single nuclear family, but augmented occasionally by a widowed parent or sister of either spouse, or by the orphaned children of a close kinsman.
