text: To what extent was a Konyak village a political unit? Villages of the Thendu group, which were ruled by powerful chiefs, invariably faced the outside world as united communities, but in Thenkoh villages the individual morungs often acted independently and there was little solidarity in matters concerning political relations with the inhabitants of other villages.
