text: Certain positions, such as those of morung officials, were hereditary within the senior lineage of a clan, and succession to such offices went with the inheritance of the great house. On festive days the members of a clan would gather in the great house and there they were entertained with the meat, rice, and rice beer, which the small houses had sent to the great house.
