text: | The duration of a pregnancy was fairly accurately predicted, though some Konyaks thought that women impregnated by men of chiefly class carried a child for ten months, while the pregnancies of the wives of commoners lasted only nine months. The natal class of the woman was considered irrelevant for the duration of a pregnancy. |
