Once the lovers knew each other better, the girl would agree to spend the whole night with her boyfriend. The ideal places for such prolonged meetings were the sheltered verandas of the granaries on the outskirts of the village. There, couples of lovers could remain undisturbed until morning, and the owners of granaries favored such use, which protected the stored grain from thieves, and added, in Konyak belief, to the fertility of the seed grain. |

At cock's crow the couples parted. The girls crept back to their parents' houses, where they were soon busy husking rice and carrying water. The boys were less energetic. They returned to the morung to sleep. |
