text: The mutual entertainment of boys and girls at the end of the weeding season has been discussed previously, and at the Ou-nie-bu, the feast at the beginning of the harvest, the girls baked breads and gave them to the boys with whom they had worked on the fields. The special relationship between Oukheang and Balang, on the one hand, and between Thepong and Bala, on the other, did not exclude friendships and later marriage between Oukheang boys and Bala girls. For although the Bala girls were the traditional partners of the Thepong boys, there was nothing to prevent them from bestowing their favors on boys of the Oukheang or Ang-ban.
