While the men squatted round the hearth, the bride and the girls of her age group withdrew to sit on the rice-pounding table. That night the bride with her company of girls returned to sleep in her parent's house, and the groom spent the night in his morung. On subsequent nights the newly wedded couple slept in a granary in the manner of unmarried lovers. Both continued to live in their parental houses and seldom met during the day. |
