text: Most Konyaks, however, while they were very conscious of the benefit a community could acquire from the possession of captured heads and the magical power emanating from them, seemed to have little interest in the relation of killer and killed in the next world. To sustain their power and derive from it the highest benefit, all skulls in possession of a village were ceremonially fed at the time of the seasonal feasts.
