medium: | books |
text: | The road, following a swiftly flowing river, swollen during the rains, wound through a wooded valley, and then climbed zigzagging up the mountain in sickening hairpin bends. The gradient was considerable, for the forty-six miles from the station to Kohima led to a height of almost 4,800 feet. Dense tropical forest shut in the road with garlands and curtains of creepers hanging from the high trees. |
