text: The house of the Ang stood in the centre of the village of Tanhai. It was a long, low building, divided into numerous small rooms. At the back, and partly covered by the roof, a platform was built out over the slope. Generally, the women used to spin and weave, clean taro, and spread the drying rice on this platform; but now it was transformed, for the "Great Sahib," lord over 178,000 Nagas, was to hold his court here, question his witnesses, and pass his judgement. It was a very important day for Tanhai.
