text: "Do you see there, down by the river? Something moves! Yes -- there are men down there -- many men!"
text: Something glints in the sun, and then is lost to the naked eye, but it is enough to rouse our attention and we rake every inch of that valley until, triumphantly, we pick out hundreds of fully- armed warriors streaming over the river. It must have been their spearpoints that caught the sun.
text: Swiftly they disappear in the wood close to the ford, where the path runs on to the village. Will they appear again? If they mean to meet us in the open, it should not take long for them to make their way up to the large clearing on the slope. We wait a long time, but nothing stirs, only the peace envoys come nearer on the hillside. Our doubts vanish. The Pangsha warriors have certainly taken up their places for an ambush!
