text: But many of the boys who paint so dull a picture of married life are themselves married, though they may still go their own way, and in the second of the songs a girl teases her love for his alleged attachment to his wife. The first four lines may be interpreted in two ways. The "tears" and the "laughter" may simply be ironical over-statements of the greater happiness the boy is supposed to find in his wife's company, or they may mean, "when you are with me you cry for my love, but when you are with your wife you make fun of me."
