text: In 1962 the country had already been opened up by the construction of motorable roads, and thanks to this improvement of communications there was no difficulty in getting without any loss of time straight into the heart of Wanchu country. The age of great expeditions such as our tour to Pangsha in 1936 was clearly over and on reflection I believe that that expedition into unexplored Kalyo-Kengyu country was probably the last of its kind.
