text: At the far end of the village we came to the house of the Ang, an enormous building, bigger than any I had seen in this area but comparable to the largest of the houses of Wanchu chiefs. A few stone steps brought us to a large platform, and on this stood a massive stone seat flanked by two menhirs. In 1936 I had heard of this seat, and had imagined it to be something like the ceremonial "throne" of the Ang of Longkhai. But apparently it was used to exhibit the bodies of killed animals such as tigers and other prestigious game.
