text: The next day I went to the village of Shangnyu, also known as Hangnyu, and as such figuring in the succession dispute described in Chapter IV. Even this village could be reached by jeep, and for several miles we drove through ripening rice fields. On the way we ran into a group of young girls wearing little except coloured necklaces and tiny skirts such as the girls of Oting and Hungphoi had worn.
