Photographers Index
Where known, each entry in the Index, whether in respect of an individual or a company, gives the following:

  • biographical information
  • active dates
  • birth and death dates
  • gender
  • geographical areas in which the photographer is known to have been active
  • likenesses of the photographer
  • classmarks of albums and photographs with links to those in the gallery
  • publications of photographic relevance
  • links to related photographers
  • details of any commercial enterprise, including the locations of studios
  • matters of particular technical or other photographic significance

In most cases, the original sources used by the authors of the typescript Index have been traced and cited. However this has not always proved possible.
