| Joseph John Elliott (1835-1903) and Clarence Edmund Fry were commercial photographers based in London, England. From 1863 to 1886 their studio was at 55 Baker Street, Portman Square. In 1887 they expanded to include 56 Baker Street. From 1886 to 1888 the company's printing was carried out at Park Road, Barnet (Pritchard 1994, p.57). The firm employed a number of operators, including Francis Henry Hart, Alfred James Philpott, Herbert Lambert and William Flowers. In the 1940s the company's studio was bombed and the majority of the early negatives were destroyed (National Portrait Gallery 2004). In 1965 Elliott and Fry was amalgamated with Bassano and Vandyck (Pritchard 1994, p.34). | |||
