Dan Harrington and Margt his wife to a messuage at this court came Giles Crow and Ann his wife customary tenants of the said manor and the said Ann being by the said steward solely and secretly examined and consenting they the said Giles and Ann did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of his said steward one customary messuage or tenement and yard with the appurtenances situate in Holstreete in Earls Colne late in the tenure or occupation of Dan Harrington of Earls Colne saymaker to the use and behoof of the said Dan Harrington and of Margt his wife and of the heirs and assigns of the said Dan upon condition that if the said Dan his heirs executors administrators or assigns do not well and truly pay or cause to be paid to the said Giles his executors administrators or assigns at or in the now dwelling house of the said Giles situate in Earls Colne aforesaid 24li upon 25.3.next that then the said surrender to be void which said premises the said Giles and Ann did take to them and the heirs of the said Giles at a court held for the said manor upon 17.2.1648 which said Dan Harrington and Margt his wife being present in court desired to be admitted tenants to the said premises to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement and yard with the appurtenances to the said Dan Harrington and Margt his said wife and the heirs of the said Dan upon condition aforesaid of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs due and of right accustomed and they gave to the lord for their fine
