admission of Sam Finch | whereas at a court here held 3.1.1667 Robt Finch and Mary his wife were admitted for themselves and the heirs of the aforesaid Robt to one tenement and garden and rentary adjoining with appurtenances called Ruffles and one piece of land containing by estimation 2r more or less with appurtenances late parcel of Barnehawes now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Robt Finch after the last court died and that in his lifetime namely on 9.1.29Chas2 surrendered into the hands of the lord of the aforesaid manor by the hands of Humph Ruggles instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Ralph Josselin clerk and Rich Fisher two customary tenants of the aforesaid manor the same testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor the aforesaid tenement garden rentary and lands with appurtenances after the death of Mary his wife to the use and behoof of Sam Finch his brother and the heirs and assigns of the said Sam forever upon which the aforesaid Sam Finch present here in court humbly sought from the lord admittance for himself as tenant to the reversion of remainder of the premises when it should happen after the death of the aforesaid Mary to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the tenement garden rentary and aforesaid piece of land with appurtenances to the aforesaid Sam Finch his heirs and assigns after the death of the aforesaid Mary from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine etc |
