whereas at a court held 26.3.1690 Ann Wade widow was admitted to one cottage with garden called Humfryes abutting on a croft called Chalkney Croft on one part and the highway leading from Earls Colne to Great Tey on the other part and also to the said croft of land called Chalkney Croft now at this court it appeared that the said Ann 9.6. surrendered by the hands of Solomon Grimston gentleman instead of the bailiff in the presence of Hen Adams junior and Simon Overall all the premises aforesaid and all her customary lands held of the manor aforesaid to the use of Hen Adams son of Hen Adams junior of Earls Colne yeoman who by the said Hen Adams junior his father and attorney was admitted etc and gave fine and fealty was respited
